What brand of epoxy/hardener did you use? The brand I bought cracks after flexing it about 15 degrees.

@BaileyBlade ………………. oh okay, now I understand…. Your using polyester resin and NOT ISO resin….. NEVER MIND MY COMMENT and please disregard my statement…….. Ive never seen or made glass car body plugs made with anything but ISO resin for the almost ZERO shrink factor….. Ill remove my comment just so there is no confusion for other watchers who are learning to make plugs , bodies or flexible flat sheets etc……

@GasserGlass I have several sheets that I made like this that are months to a year old and they are still as flexible as they were on day one.

Love it!!!… that “washer” roller idea is fantastic!!.. as we all know those pricey rollers can be hell to clean!!!

Yeah a go cart would be good practice but hey if you have a dream you might as well go big right?

trodengore

the car is going well, can’t wait to see the finished product, been wanting to do something like this my self but haven’t had the finance to do so, curtrently i am looking a something smaller to start with like a go-cart with a body shell. any way good luck with the build and i’ll be sure to keep watching.

@dschumann06 Yes the finished body panels will be made of a fiberglass composite blend, and will also have a full carbon fiber version later on. I did another video after this one we are working more though. Stay tuned

@christhejunglist Thanks for the great comment not sure, why you post got flagged as spam. Weird.

Will you be making the finished body panels out of fiberglass? I’ve been waiting on another video, anxiously waiting for something else!

Thanks so very much for the time it took you guys to make, edit, and post up all this knowledge!

I do some fiberglass repair work from time to time and you guys have showed me and the other saturday morning mechanics a good structure to take it to another level!!!

I subscribed and hope to see tricks of the trade in the near future!!! Thanks for regaining my confidence when it come to laying down some serious fiberglass work!!!

Cheers,

~ Chris

The roller tip is great. That is going to come in very handy. I like the idea of being able to just drop all the washers in a cup of solvent instead of cleaning a normal solid roller. Thanks man

Yeah the dash and interior components will be made of composite materials and aluminum. We have not started the dash yet as we need to finalize the body and the chassis first. But when we do work on it we will do several videos.

Yeah I hear ya along with many other comments about it. Talking on camera is not easy. I have pointed cameras at the most confident of people and all the sudden they start shuddering and become shy. Its weird how the camera changes the way you think and speak. Im working on getting better is all I can say.

19 04 2011

Good stuff. I am not sure if you guys are building your interior dash with fiberglass but if you were, another tutorial showing how guy guys do it and explaining what materials and brands you used and what kind of tools you used to shape and cut the fiberglass would be cool. Or maybe if you built custom door panels and speaker mounts and what not…

Realy good video, very helpfull. About you talking to the camera. Try to keep the eh, and, so, then alittle less. Maybe writh alittle note before you talk to the camera, or do the talking when u edit. Maybe its easyer then🙂

it´s to many epoxyd.. 50 gfk / 50 epoxyd for best performance of cfk or gfk

19 04 2011
jacktharipper3

oh okay but when you building the final body you need to use other resin and bake it?

19 04 2011
BaileyBlade

Oh and yeah you can use chopped mat for road legal cars, Weaved Fiberglass is used to cut down on weight and has to be applied in specific directions to maintain its strength.

19 04 2011
BaileyBlade

Yeah polestar resin does shrink although not by 3% thats crazy high, its more like 0.5%. Also it shrinks over long period of time Polyester resin continues to cure forever causing the shrinking. Its better to use a blended resin. Though in our case we are only building a body buck to pull molds from, the final panels will made of other better materials.

19 04 2011
jacktharipper3

oh okay i take it back good vid, but i thought polyester resin shrinks by 3% and is fg mesh good enough to build a car legal on the road? i thought youd need to use weaved fiberglass

Adam,

Thanks for the tutorial, I really liked what you did with the menu bar 4 and more importantly with showing how to export it out to Dreamweaver, Sadly there are a lot of good tutorials but everyone else forgets to show you how to implement the work into Dreamweaver.

I’m having problems with fireworks cs4. When I save my file as a .png, then close out of fireworks, I can’t re-edit the file in fireworks. How do I open it to where I am able to re-edit it?
