Whenever I try to set the navigation type from same level to child level from master B copy and pasted to master A, it disappears. Please help? I was also curious to know if there are two parent navigation tabs and under it, there are 3 child tabs on each one of them. How am I able to have that as a side child level bar on my website?

@wenstynesvlogs Hi, that’s weird, try holding down Control on your keyboard when you launch WebPlus via its shortcut, that resets the program to its factory defaults. If this doesn’t work, contact tech support. Also of course allow WebPlus to auto-update to make sure you are running the latest version. Hope that helps, Dale @ Serif.

My nav bar wizard is not working it says select nav bar but has no preview and wont allow me to select it?

I just had this whole explanation written out asking why my hyperlinks weren’t working and then I figured it out. I was previewing the page instead of the site. You’ll still be hearing from me later on though. Thanks for the tutorials, they are really helpful.

@kouroshkamali123 I’ll see if there’s a right way to achieve this – just now I can think of different methods but none is perfect. The sure-fire way is to insert some HTML (or DHTML/JavaScript etc) that contains the right options and destination addresses. WebPlus’s own navbars are the best built-in way to achieve this, they look nicer than Windows-style drop-downs and the list matches your site structure automatically. The Windowsy-drop-down-boxes WebPlus creates are in forms, not navigation.

@LoniHart Hi Loni. This was probably achieved by placing a single rectangular QuickShape behind the 4 images. When you create shapes and other objects, they are naturally on top of everything else, but there’s a Send to Back button on the top toolbar to help layer things as you want. The colour is chosen from the Swatches or Colour tabs in the Studio area at the right, which is full of controls and content just a click away. HTH, Dale. @ Serif.

@LoniHart Hi there, yes you can import websites regardless of where they were made, although they will generally need some tidying up after import, mving things a bit on the page and reformatting text. And yes you can also import Flash SWFs, with easy options to manage how they are displayed and run. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

Can I import my existing site, built with an unknown program, into WebPlus X4 then update -can I import my existing flash programs from my old site ?

@seriousthinkkk Sorry I can’t find the rasterize options you’ve mentioned, or mentions of old and new navbars in the UI, so I would suggest you get in touch with Serif Support directly for some expert help at support.serif.com Thanks, Dale.

hey serif!
i got a problem .. .i want to build a navigation bar without an websafe font.
i choose for the font “rasterize at export” .. .the normal written things are right exported as image, but the navigation bar is not rasterized.
in the templates there is an option “old navigation bar”, with this type it’s possible to rasterize not web-safe font. but i can’t find a option like this in the “new” type of navigation. .. would be great .. ..any help!
thanks!

Hi Suchet9, yes we do have a tutorial on e-commerce, not a video though. You can find it by viewing our Online Tutorials, accessible via the Help menu. There’s a PDF tutorial there called E-commerce in the Further Development section. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

Hi RayC. Yes it’s possible to password-protect pages in your site, and there is a tutorial that can help, hope I’m not way too late in pointing you towards it. If you select View Online Tutorials in the product’s Help menu you’ll be taken to a handy page on our site, there’s an “Access Control and Mailing Lists” tutorial there, supplied as a PDF to make it easy to print. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

Hi MysticReverie. Yes you can do this, by adding a “virtual page” to your site structure that directs people elsewhere… click on the arrow next to the Insert Page button on the Pages tab and select New Offsite Link. This link becomes part of your nav structure, so you can make it a main heading in nav or a child of another page. When you add an Offsite Link a hyperlink dialog will pop up, you can choose Internet Page at the left and add the shop URL to the right. HTH, Dale @ Serif.

this is an excellent way of creating navigation bars fast – the tutorial is great – Do you have any tutorials which show e-commerce site creation maybe showing stuff like shopping carts, content management, etc?

If you know HTML you know XHTML, the only differences are the DOCTYPE line and that XHTML is stricter. You can’t have open tags or capital letters for tags. and at the end of tags like line breaks, horizontal rules, etc. you have to put the / in front of the >.

XHTML wiki article says it best: “In 2009, the W3C allowed the XHTML 2 Working Group’s charter to expire, acknowledging that HTML 5 would be the sole next-generation HTML standard, including both XML and non-XML serializations.”

HTML going obsolete? Well, HTML5 just came out, and it’s newer than XHTML.
